UKIP Adds £25,000 to Cost of European Parliament Business

3.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 17th Jan 2008

MEPs from the United Kingdom Independence Party added £25,000 to the cost of the European Parliament's business this week by demanding roll-call votes to record every vote held. These votes cost £300 each, bringing the total cost to the taxpayer to over £25,000.

Commenting on this move, South West MEP and EU Liberal Leader, Graham Watson said:

"Once again, the anti-Europeans have shown what a waste of time and money their presence in Strasbourg is. I hope the voters will boot them out at the elections in June next year; by doing so they will save us all money."
