Local MEP launches Westfield School's Politics Day

1.40.24pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 13th Jul 2007

South West Lib Dem MEP Graham Watson will be in Yeovil on Monday 16th July to officially open Westfield School's Politics Day.

The day, aimed at Year 10s, will seek to challenge pupils' views on what politics is and how it affects their lives. Graham Watson will speak about how pupils can get involved in politics and will give them an overview of his work in the European Parliament.

Commenting prior to the event, Graham Watson said:

"In a time of much political apathy in this country, explaining and making relevant the political process to our younger generations is more important than ever. Politics affects everyone and I am looking forward to discussing these issues with pupils at Westfield."
