CHEAPER ROAMING CALLS BY AUGUST

2.52.20pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 7th Jun 2007

Commenting on the European Council's rubber-stamping today of the cap on mobile roaming charges agreed last month by the European Parliament, Lib Dem MEP for the South West and Gibraltar Graham Watson said:

"Today's decision means that the regulation will come into force within a few weeks. By the end of July all consumers will be free to switch to or from the Euro tariff plan, free of charge. The new rules will be in time for the August holidays and save holidaymakers a considerable amount of money."
