EU Farm Supremo to visit Somerset12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 12th Sep 2005 EU Farming Commissioner Mariann Fischer-Boel will visit South West England on Monday 3rd October at the invitation of regional Euro-MP Graham Watson (Liberal Democrat). The Commissioner will speak to young farmers from across the EU at the Europea Young Farmers conference hosted by Bridgwater College. Among other engagements she will also visit the Somerset Levels River Catchment Project and will meet local farmers at a supper at Draycott Village Hall (near Cheddar). Welcoming the Commissioner's visit, Euro MP Graham Watson said: "With so many changes in farming, farmers need to be able to talk to top-level decision makers face-to-face to understand what is going on. I am pleased that the Commissioner has agreed to make herself available to my constituents. She is one of the stars of the new European Commission and - as a farmer herself - really understands the industry." Tickets for the evening supper are available at £15, please contact june.harry@nfu.org.uk to book your tickets.
