Commenting on Germany's national elections held yesterday, Graham Watson, leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in the European Parliament, congratulated the German Liberal Party, the FDP, on its electoral success:

"This is the best score for Germany's Free Democrats in fifteen years. Congratulations to FDP leader Guido Westerwelle", he said.

"In an era of global challenges, Liberalism offers the only credible response", Graham Watson explained. "The result of this election proves yet again that European citizens increasingly recognise this", he added.
