Graham Watson, the Lib Dem MEP for South West England and Gibraltar today threw his weight behind calls to include a reference to 'sexual orientation' in Gibraltar's new Constitution. Speaking from Brussels he said,

"The tide is turning in Europe towards more liberal attitudes to sexual orientation, and this is reflected in the new European Constitution. All the people of Gibraltar, regardless of their sexuality, deserve the right to be treated equally and feel secure against unfair discrimination. Gibraltar's new constitution should reflect this liberal vision of Europe and provide the same fundamental rights that are written into the European Constitution.

There should be no 'equality gap' between Gibraltar and the rest of Europe."
