Graham Watson - Liberal Democrat MEP for South-West England and Gibraltar

MEP quizzed by local schoolchildren

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 12th Jul 2004

Pupils at Filton High School quizzed Bristol and South Gloucestershire Lib Dem MEP Graham Watson on Friday 9 July about his work as a local Member of the European Parliament and about the EU's fisheries policy, on which the pupils are currently carrying out a project.

Mr Watson spoke to two groups of 14 and 15 year olds as part of their citizenship studies. He answered their questions about fisheries and talked about his work as Leader of the 89 Liberal Democrat MEPs in Brussels and Strasbourg.

Commenting on the visit, Graham Watson said:

"I was impressed by how well the pupils had prepared their questions and by their work in citizenship studies. They also showed a lively interest in the work a Member of the European Parliament does. There may well be some budding MEPs amongst them!"
