Worle Liberal Democrat Euro-MP Sir Graham Watson this week (Thursday 10th May) held a video Q&A from Brussels with a group of Year 11 students in Worle School.
The 15-16 year olds got to put a whole range of questions to Sir Graham in a video link-up for them to learn more about how the EU works and what is happening in Brussels. They asked what he did on an average working day, what the EU has done for North Somerset, about the situation in Syria and how the EU can help with high street shops closing down in Weston-super-Mare.
After the Q&A session, Graham said:
"It was great to be able to link up with students back in Somerset and answer all their questions about what the EU does."
"We talked about everything from how the EU has helped improve water quality on Weston beach, how it can help small businesses, the situation in Syria - and how I got into politics."
Graham has been the Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for Somerset since 1994. He is also the President of the European Lib Dem party, which includes 55 Liberal parties including non-EU countries like Norway and Russia.
