The Climate Parliament
Graham is chair of the Climate Parliament, a global organisation comprising of legislators from around the world. From Congressman in the United States to members of the Ghanan Parliament, legislators exchange ideas, create new policy and promote the benefits of renewable energy in their country.
In the European Parliament, there is a cross party working committee, with the aim of promoting construction of renewable energy as well as promoting the idea of a European energy supergrid.
Please visit the site for more information or if you wish to access a wide array of publications and research materials on how communities can set up their own energy grids.
Continental Renewable Supergrid
Did you know that solar panels on just 1% of North Africa and the Middle East's desert could provide enough electricity to power the region and Europe's entire energy needs?
A number of major initiatives are beginning to foster, including a major project by a company called Desertec to build a solar panel network from North Africa to Southern Europe. If successful, Desertec's plans will mean that 100% of North Africa and 15% of Europe's energy needs would be met by 2050, creating a 100% renewable supergrid between Africa and Southern Europe.
A similar network in Northern Europe is being proposed, but in this instance using geo-thermal power from Scandinavia and Cornwall, alongside wind and tidal energy generated by states off the North Sea.
More information on this can be found in a pamphlet Graham produced in 2009 entitled Making the Green Energy Switch at a Time of Crisis. To download, please follow the link below.
